The Tweet above has proven to be quite influential as a meme. It humorously and effectively captures the notion of people voting for harmful political policies without ever expecting that they themselves would experience this. This is why, for example, people who say they oppose censorship are more than happy to censor people they don’t like, so long as they themselves are not censored. After all, says the voter, “I never thought I’d be censored”.
Over on Reddit is a subreddit inspired by the original Tweet. It is designed to mock people who face the consequences of their own actions. It turns out that the leftists that run the subreddit do not like it when you point out that leftists might have to face the consequences of their own actions. Rather than deal with this reality, they censor.
The original author of the Tweet containing the Leopards Eating Faces Party—Adrian Bott—is also a leftist. He will block those who reposts his Tweet in the context of left-wingers who have to face the consequences of their actions. Ask me how I know.
Whether someone is on the right or left, they can understand hypocrisy. You don’t deserve a prize for this. Even a child does this without training. Indeed, it’s easy and common to gleefully point out when the damage caused by opposing political party’s policies comes to back to harm its proponents.
What takes true integrity is avoiding falling victim to the meme personally. Many, especially on the left, will categorically refuse to admit that their own policies could be damaging, let alone that the negatives they find in themselves and others are caused by their own policies. And so they will continue to vote for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party and be continually surprised when their faces get eaten by leopards, and they’ll try to censor you if you point it out.
Remember the time when liberals would say, “I disagree with what you say, but would fight to the death for your right to say it”?

Back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, people would say that about the ACLU. They can’t stop talking about how in 1978 the ACLU represented a neo-Nazi group. But at the same time they were “defending your right to the death to say it,” they were also aggressively supporting abortion at the expense of the inherent rights of the unborn.
This is how I knew that the fight for free speech wasn’t a matter of universal principles. Their support for euthanasia was further confirmation.
Fast forward to the 2020s, and the ACLU has come forth as a far-left proponent of irrational wokeism. Even classical liberals are wondering “what happened to the ACLU?”
The answer, of course, is that nothing happened to them. They just continued to go where their views were bound to logically take them. Without objective universal principles—especially those rooted in Christ—to bind them, there was nothing to prevent this.
The irony is that even as classical liberals notice the ACLU’s decline, they still agree with the ACLU that Masterpiece Cakeshop should be subject to compelled speech. They do not learn. They cannot see.

Side note: Masterpiece cakeshop is pretty close to our home. We’ve supported them quite a bit since we moved here a few years ago. He is a really nice man. It did not make the news but his wife was under so much stress during that first trial, she had a stroke. The people targeting them are seriously terrible people.
