Must be fake….we know in The South everyone is a devout Christian, believes in traditional values and roles, there is no crime because they love “Jesus” so much

Always surprised me the high levels of divorce in those “Bible Belt” places.

For example:
If this person is real (which I very much doubt), I would guess she was living in one of those states.

Always surprised me the high levels of divorce in those “Bible Belt” places.
It shouldn’t, if you know the reason behind all The Map™ correlations. Here is another correlation:
Divorce is largely driven by IQ. Inteligent people have lower divorce rates.
Oh, I suspect Florida has higher female ownership because women live longer than men and Florida is where retirees purchase homes. It is the one state on the list that doesn’t correlate very well with all the other stuff.
Liz
Good point about longevity and Florida (I hadn’t considered that one).
Interesting about IQ and divorce rates. I guess that figures (looking back at examples from my observations in Christmases past).
Yesterday’s sermon at our church was impressive. The pastor shared his family history and gave a long explanation of the destructiveness of feminism on society and relationships. I’ve never seen that level of anti-feminism in a modern church in my entire life (Missouri synod, Lutheran). I’ve seen it hinted at, vaguely but he really laid it out there. It was refreshing.
Liz
I should add, it is easy for me to follow Mike because I respect and admire him so much. So this relationship dynamic is pretty easy and natural for me. But then, he also has admiration for me (for some reason), so we’re very blessed and fortunate.
“In Chesterton’s The Secret of Father Brown, a beloved nobleman who murdered his good-for-nothing brother in a duel thirty years ago returns to his hometown wracked by guilt. All the townspeople want to forgive him immediately, and they mock the titular priest for only being willing to give a measured forgiveness conditional on penance and self-reflection. They lecture the priest on the virtues of charity and compassion.
Later, it comes out that the beloved nobleman did not in fact kill his good-for-nothing brother. The good-for-nothing brother killed the beloved nobleman (and stole his identity). Now the townspeople want to see him lynched or burned alive, and it is only the priest who – consistently – offers a measured forgiveness conditional on penance and self-reflection.
The priest tells them:
It seems to me that you only pardon the sins that you don’t really think sinful. You only forgive criminals when they commit what you don’t regard as crimes, but rather as conventions. You forgive a conventional duel just as you forgive a conventional divorce. You forgive because there isn’t anything to be forgiven.
He further notes that this is why the townspeople can self-righteously consider themselves more compassionate and forgiving than he is. Actual forgiveness, the kind the priest needs to cultivate to forgive evildoers, is really really hard. The fake forgiveness the townspeople use to forgive the people they like is really easy, so they get to boast not only of their forgiving nature, but of how much nicer they are than those mean old priests who find forgiveness difficult and want penance along with it.”

Florida never quite fits in with the rest of the country with respect to statistics. The demographics of the state are almost unique compared to the rest of the states. This makes it very challenging to evaluate it as a state.
What a great sermon. Can you privately email me a link? I won’t disclose it, but I’d like to see it for myself. If you don’t want to, I understand.

As I have stated before……”higher IQ” doesnt mean “good” or “better people” because California in general does have a higher IQ than many parts of the county….mine is dragging that down a little I am sure………but the intellectual “mess” these “intelligent” people have made California borders on the absurd.
I have met many very smart people in my IBM days, and out and about in this fine state now for over thirty years. They vote for destructive policies and have very strange misconceptions about government, public policy and The Constitution (state and federal)
Yet, “they know what is best” because they have a degree from Stanford, or Berkeley, or have a highly specialized job requiring that higher IQ (Stem fields for example)
Having a higher IQ doesnt make you emotionally mature, trustworthy, or capable (integrity, work ethic…ugh…met a gazillion lazy people out here who ‘have a high IQ’ and the excuse they give as to why they are unmotivated is because they are “bored” by their jobs and life. I deal with this daily in my field)
As for your post Liz from that womans’ profile. It may indeed be fake…and as much as I will grant that possibility………..have met plenty of women in my post-college life that insist a man provide that “glass slipper” to step into.
I asked a gal out in the mid 1990’s when I first came to California. We were both skiers (I was decent, went to college in Vermont. Grew up on skis. Have not skied since the early 2000’s became too expensive)
We decided to have a ski date. She inisted to me that “it wasnt a date, we were just friends going skiing”. We got to Tahoe, and I paid for her lift ticket. She went down the mountain once? Maybe twice? Sat in the big lounge with the fireplace, and drank wine the rest of the day and flirted with hot “skiers” while I skied. AT the end of the day, as we were driving back she stated “it would never work between us because I was not the type of man she wanted”
I asked her what kind of man did she want? The listing above from that profile had many of the same things. She didnt have children though. Also, she “just got out of an abusive relationship” (every girl has always told me this)
and she “needed time for herself to learn to trust men again”
She didnt even thank me for the ride to the resort, nor her lift ticket. I should have called it off when she told me “its not a date, we’re just friends going skiing”
Anyway….almost 30 years ago. Perhaps if I found a church when I was younger, or was born a bit more handsome, I could have been able to “game” so to speak or “make the choices / decisions” about women and maybe it would have been better. No sense losing sleep over it now.
Sadly, this profile you posted….fake or not……plenty of men WILL respond to her wanting a date. Many of them will consider themselves Red Pill too btw
Liz

Heh, I suspect it is fake because it is too “on the nose”. 40 year old single mom says, “marry me and adopt my kids in a month or less…oh, also you must be affluent and have a six pack and give me a 30,000 dollar engagement ring in this one month timeframe. And adopt my kids. And you can’t be a father yourself. And..um, oh yeah you need to cut the grass. Call me!”
I really don’t think anyone would go for this. But if it’s legit I guess no one could say she didn’t warn them. It might even be too over the top for good parody. But it hits the sweet spot for going viral.

That’s actually never been true about the south.
However, it is worth noting (since no one ever does when criticizing us!) that the south has been filling up with northern transplants for the last 20 years. They move here, and are continuing to move here, in droves. Not just FL, but Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Virginia. Last time I looked, the only states not receiving this massive influx are Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
Like I always say, “When you read the Flo-ri-duh man articles, it’s worth taking the time to find out where that guy is actually from. It’s almost NEVER a Florida native.”

Several years ago, I read a story about obesity in the USA…and it done a “christian” perspective.
Evidently, the obesity rates in the USA are highest in The South. Diabetes is highest per average in The South and obesity rate by professing weekly attending Christians in The South was three to four times higher than the rest of the country.
I dont know how accurate or what metrics were used exactly by this article. I do know that in Appalachia (which runs from the South up into Yankee country into Pennsylvania and skirting up through rural New England) has some of the LOWEST church attendance rates in the USA. Eben in my area of New York State (northern tier / Adirondacks / Albany / Capital Region) also scores at the top for very low church attendance. Lower than many parts of “secular” California.
Even in The Salvation Army here in California…..they will lecture you on the dangers of drinking, drugs and not living a ‘holy life’ and yet….well……..some very larger pastors and members in that organization.
Well done – that’s incisive!
